Privacy policy
Relingo helps people understand the world’s faiths. What you explore here can be personal, so we collect as little as we can, never sell it, never use it for advertising, and never make your religious interests public. This page explains exactly what we hold and why.
Who we are
Relingo (“we”, “us”) runs relingo.app. For anything about your data, email support@relingo.app.
What we collect
Only what makes Relingo work: how to reach you, and the answers you choose to give us.
If you join the waitlist
- Your email address.
- Where you came from, such as “instagram” or “homepage”, so we know which posts work.
- A one-way scrambled code made from your internet address and that day’s date. We use it only to stop spam sign-ups. It changes every day, so it can’t be used to follow you, and we never store your actual internet address.
If you create an account
- Your email address and, if you sign in with Google, your name and a Google account identifier.
- Your time zone and daily goal, so streaks and reminders work in your own day.
- Your progress, such as completed lessons, XP and streaks. If you take a returning check-in, we keep its score (for example 5 of 6) on your journey to skip lessons you already know. Only you can see it.
- What you write in your journal: reflections, notes on a passage or practice, and free writing, with which passage, practice or question each is about. Only you can see your journal, and you can delete any entry. We don’t send what you write to any AI service.
- Your daily routine, if you make one (which practices, readings and reflections you’ve placed in your morning, day and evening), and the passages you save. Only you can see them.
- If you report an issue with a lesson, reading or practice: the kind of issue, anything you write, and which item and version it was. Our content reviewers use reports to correct content. They see the report, not your name or email.
Your onboarding answers
When you start, we ask where you are on your faith journey, what you’re looking for, how you’d like to use Relingo, which faiths interest you and how much time you have. Without an account, these answers stay only on your device. If you sign in, we save them to your account so they follow you to other devices.
Interest in a religion can count as sensitive information in many countries. We store these answers only because you choose to save them to an account, we use them only to choose what Relingo shows you, and you can delete them at any time.
Counting what works
To see whether Relingo is working, we count a few things people do, in our own database: visits to the home page, steps through onboarding, and, if you have an account, which parts of the app you open (for example Today, Study or your journal), when you use Ask, and changes to how you use Relingo. Each record holds a short code, such as “passage page” or “explain”, and the time. It never holds anything you write or ask, or which faith you follow. Records from visitors without an account carry no identifier at all. With an account, they’re linked to it so we can tell whether people come back, and we combine them with your progress (for example, lessons finished or passages read) to see which parts of Relingo help. We don’t use an analytics company, tracking cookies or device fingerprinting.
What we don’t collect
- We don’t use advertising trackers, and we don’t sell or rent data to anyone.
- We don’t use third-party analytics. The counting above happens in our own database.
- We don’t use your data, including anything you write, to train AI models.
- We don’t save your Ask Relingo questions to your account or our database. Answers come from Relingo’s reviewed content, and your question isn’t sent to an AI service.
Signing in with Google
We ask Google for your name and email address, and nothing else.
If you choose “Continue with Google”, Google shares your name, email address and a Google account identifier with us. We don’t request access to your contacts, files, calendar or anything else in your Google account. We use this information only to create and secure your Relingo account, and we never share it with others or use it for advertising. Our use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Cookies and storage on your device
We use one kind of cookie: the one that keeps you signed in. Without an account, your onboarding answers are kept in your browser’s local storage. Signing out removes them from that device. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.
Emails
If you join the waitlist we send one confirmation, and we’ll email you when Relingo launches. If you have an account, we send sign-in links you ask for and, if you turn them on, reminders. Every waitlist email includes a link to remove yourself.
Who processes data for us
We use a small number of providers to run Relingo. Each processes data only to provide its service to us.
| Provider | What for |
|---|---|
| Supabase | Database and sign-in: accounts, saved answers, waitlist |
| Vercel | Hosting the website |
| Resend | Sending emails |
| “Continue with Google” sign-in, if you choose it | |
| Cloudflare | Domain name service for relingo.app |
These providers store and process data in Canada and the United States. Where data moves between countries, we rely on the providers’ contractual safeguards.
How long we keep it
- Account data: until you delete your account.
- Content reports: until you delete your account, which deletes them with it.
- Usage counts linked to an account: until you delete the account, which deletes them with it. Counts without an account can’t be linked to anyone.
- Waitlist emails: until you remove yourself, or until we’ve told you about launch and you choose not to join.
- Spam-prevention codes: they stop being useful after a day and are deleted with the waitlist entry.
Your rights
You can see, correct, download or delete your data whenever you like.
Email support@relingo.app from the address on your account and we’ll respond within 30 days. You can ask us to:
- show you the data we hold about you, and send you a copy;
- correct anything that’s wrong;
- delete your account and everything attached to it;
- stop using your onboarding answers, by deleting them.
You can leave the waitlist at any time with the link in our email. Depending on where you live, you may also complain to your data protection authority, but please contact us first so we can help.
Children
Relingo isn’t intended for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has given us information, email us and we’ll delete it.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Access to each account’s data is restricted so that only that account can read it, and we keep access for our own team to a minimum.
Changes
If we change how we handle your data, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. For significant changes, we’ll tell you by email or in the app before they take effect.
